Paige Ava Thomas (born August 25, 1990) is an American singer from San Antonio, Texas who finished in 8th place on season 2 of The X Factor USA. Her mentor was Demi Lovato.

Background[]

Before trying out for the show, Thomas was a nursing student. She has a five-year-old daughter named Jade, whose name Paige has tattooed near her chest. Before the show, Paige had previously tried out for season 10 of American Idol but didn't make it past the final 90.

X Factor history[]

Paige tried out for the show in Austin, Texas, getting 4 yeses from the judges. At boot camp, she developed a rivalry with fellow contestant CeCe Frey. Both singers performed the same Whitney Houston classic, "I Will Always Love You", and both made it to judges' homes with Demi Lovato as their mentor. Despite having a somewhat sub-par performance, Lovato was impressed enough to put Paige through to the live shows where her dramatic theatrical-style performances seem to have impressed the public despite her being in the bottom two once with Jennel Garcia. Though possessing a very strong vocal ability, Paige has come under fire for being a 'cry-baby' several times during the show.

Paige was eliminated on November 29, 2012, finishing in 8th place.

Post X Factor[]

Since the show, Paige has been focused on her daughter Jade and her music. There was a rumor shortly after her elimination that she might be getting signed to rap legend Jay Z's record label Roc Nation due to her mentioning the label on Twitter, but nothing came of it, and the rumor faded away.

Thomas later released a single callled "Lolli", which has received positive reviews by critics. She is currently working on her first album.

Tour[]

Paige joined Jennel GarciaLyric 145, and Willie Jones on The UneXpected tour, which kicked off on August 3, 2013 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the show portraying them as rivals, Thomas and fellow contestant CeCe Frey are actually friends. In a word association game that aired on the X Factor's pre-show web series, Thomas describes Frey as "funny" and "awesome" while Frey describes Thomas as "beautiful".
  • Thomas has her daughter Jade's full name, date of birth, and baby footprints tattooed near her chest, close to her collarbone.
  • In Week 3, Garcia received more votes than Thomas which meant if the result went to deadlock, Garcia would have been saved.
